It was the dream of the founder to build and run a small general hospital in the ‘weavers town’ Cannanore to provide affordable healthcare

Dhanalakshmi Hospital was founded in the memory of the late Sri. C.M. Ramunni (1900 – 1975) the pioneering Textile industrialist and philanthropist of Cannanore (Kannur). It was the dream of the founder to build and run a small general hospital in the ‘weavers town’ Cannanore to provide affordable healthcare to the sick and needy in the area.

His dream was realized in 1998 with the inauguration of Dhanalakshmi Hospital Pvt. Ltd. a modern multi specialty hospital with proposed bed strength of 350. This ambitious project was taken up by his four sons two of who are well known specialist doctors. The founder’s eldest son Sri C.M. Bharathan (Industrialist) was the first chairman of the Hospital and his younger brother Sri C.M. Valsraj (Businessman) was the director, his third son Dr. C.M. Dhananjayan (Ophthalmologist) was the Managing Director and his youngest son Dr. C.M. Ramesh (Dermatologist) was the Medical Director. After the demise of Sri. C.M. Bharathan in 2010, Sri C.M. Valsraj took his place as the Chairman of the hospital and Mrs. Nalini Bharathan was later taken in as Director.
